I started my business March of 1999 with the pruchase of a Gammill Classic longarm quilting machine. I had a full time job at the time and thought I could do custom machine quilting on the side to help support my quilt making gabit!! Little did I know that six months down the road my machine quilting business would turn into a full time business. I had outgrown the dining room, where I kept my machine the first year!! My husband Gene & I decided to remodle the chicken coop, ( of course I had to get rid of my old hens first!) In February of 2000 we moved the quilting machine and all my sewing supplies out to the newly remodled chicken house and "The Quilt Coop" was born!! Next thing I know, I had over 30 quilts that needed quilted for other people, so in October of the same year I left my full time job and the rest is history. It took six years to build up my quilting business to over 300 quilts a year, but that was getting to be too much and I needed to slow down- just a little. In order to do that I needed a "diversion." I had been playing with the idea of opening up a quilt shop, but did not want to move all my supplies and big quilting machine to town.
